On November 11, 2015, the 4th Los Cabos International Film Festival opened with a tribute to Jean-Marc Vallee in front of a packed audience at the Pabellon Cultural in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur with Governor Carlos Mendoza Davis, Los Cabos mayor  Arturo De la Rosa Escalante, Jared Leto and many actors, producers and other movers and shakers of the movie industry.

The night was marked by a career Tribute to Quebecois director Jean-Marc Vallée. His first feature film, the striking erotic thrillerBlack List, which was the first of a kind in the new Quebecois cinema, launched him to international fame. Finally attracting Hollywood attention, Vallée shot two films in the US, starring Mario Van Peebles – Strangers and Los Locos. After Loser Love, in 2005, he returned to French-spoken films with C.R.A.Z.Y., which will be screened in the Festival this week. C.R.A.Z.Y. became a big phenomenon for the critics and audience, being distributed in more than fifty countries and winning several awards at international film festivals.

The Tribute award was presented by actor, musician and director Jared Leto, who won the Oscar and the Golden Globe for best supporting role for his performance inDallas Buyers Club. Leto gave a word about the first time he met Vallée, and the path they have traced together in film industry.

In addition to receiving this year Tribute, Jean-Marc Vallée presented the Latin American Premiere of his most recent film, Demolition, which was presented for the first time at the Toronto International Film Festival. Featuring an exceptional performance by Jake Gyllenhaal, the film shows the impact of losing a loved one in a man’s life.
