THE GOSPEL MUSIC:

Gospel music, spiritual music or evangelical music, in its most restrictive definition, is American religious music that emerged from the hundreds of Protestant or Evangelical African-American churches in the 18th century and which became very popular during the 1930s. More generally , it is also included the religious music composed and sung by Southern Christian singers, regardless of their ethnicity.

Gospel music, unlike Christian hymns, is light in music. The word gospel is derived from the Anglo-Saxon word godspel (lit. word of God), which is used to refer to the gospels.
This way of singing was called in this way because it was an evangelical song to invite people to God. The lyrics usually reflect the values of the Christian life.

The strong division between whites and Afro-descendants in the US The US, especially between white churches and those of African descent, has kept both branches of gospel separate, although this separation was never absolute (both depart from the Methodist hymns and the artists of one tradition sometimes sing songs from the other), and this separation has diminished slightly in the last half century.
